　　01.Stay calm 保持冷静

　　You might feel your heart racing or your face turning red, but do whatever you can to remain neutral in both your words and actions. When your body language communicates reluctance or anxiety, it undercuts the message. Deep breaths can help, as can speaking more slowly and deliberately. When we feel panicky we tend to talk louder and faster. You don’t want to be mousey or talk in a whisper, but simply slowing the pace and talking in an even tone helps calm the other person down and does the same for you. It also makes you seem confident, even if you aren’t.

　　你可能会感到心跳加速或是脸红，但要尽可能在言语和行动上保持中性。当你的身体语言传递了不情愿或是焦虑的情绪，你传递的信息会大打折扣。深呼吸可能会有帮助，说得慢一点、从容一点也有好处。当我们感到惊慌时，我们会讲得又快又大声。你当然不想像老鼠那样窃窃私语，或者讲悄悄话，但是放慢语速，音调平稳会让听众静下来，也让你自己静下来。这也让你看起来自信一些，即使你并不自信。

　　02.Validate the original point 确认起点

　　After you’ve gotten permission, articulate the other person’s point of view. What is the idea, opinion, or proposal that you’re disagreeing with? Stating that clearly, possibly even better than your counterpart did, lays a strong foundation for the discussion.

　　当得到允许后，要清楚阐明对方的观点。你到底不同意哪条创意，哪个意见，哪项提议?清楚地陈述这些，甚至比对方说得更清楚，这会给接下来的讨论打下坚实的基础。

　　03.Don’t make judgments 别做评判

　　When you move on to expressing your concerns, watch your language carefully. Avoid any “judgment words” such as “short-sighted,” “foolish,” or “hasty”; one of the tips is to cut out all adjectives, since they have the potential to be misinterpreted or taken personally. Share only fact and stay neutral and focused.

　　当表达你的关注点时，注意语言的使用。避免任何评判性的词语，例如“目光短浅”、“愚蠢”、“仓促”，其中一个建议是去掉所有形容词，因为这些词会被错误理解或被情绪化理解。只分享事实，保持中立和专注。

　　04.Stay humble 保持谦卑

　　Emphasize that you’re offering your opinion, not gospel truth. It may be a well-informed, well-researched opinion, but it’s still an opinion, [so] talk tentatively and slightly understate your confidence and add a lot of “guiding phrases”. This will leave room for dialogue. Demonstrate equal curiosity about other views. Remind the person that this is your point of view, and then invite critique. Be genuinely open to hearing other opinions.

　　强调你只在提供建议，而不是真理。这可能是一条综合各方意见、经过精心研究的建议，但仍旧只是建议。说话可以略带踌躇，适当收敛自己的信心，多加一些“引导性的表达”。这能留下对话的空间。要对其它的观点表现出同样的好奇心。提醒对方这只是你的观点，欢迎批评。真诚地聆听他人的观点。

　　05.Acknowledge their authority 承认对方的权威

　　Ultimately, the person in power is probably going to make the final decision, so acknowledge that. That will not only show that you know your place but also remind them that they have choices. Don’t backtrack on your opinion or give false praise, though. You want to show respect to the person while maintaining your own self-respect.

　　最后，当权者可能会最终做决定，对此要表示承认。这不仅能表明你明确自己的职位，也能提醒对方他们有选择权。但是，不要回溯你的观点，但也别给虚伪的赞美。对听你说话的人，你既要表示尊重，也要维护自尊。
