The remaining two airports, however, demonstrated different patterns. At Gatwick, holiday travel accounted for the largest proportion, at 54%. Visits to friends and family represented 30%, roughly twice the share of business-related travel. In comparison, holiday trips and social visits were equally popular at Heathrow Airport, each accounting for 35%. About a quarter of passengers travelled for business (26%), which was more than four times the figure for other purposes (4%).
