　　地点和建筑这类话题在雅思口语中比较常见，如 a hotel, a museum, a library,a restaurant, 等。下面北京新航道为大家准备了一篇文章，希望帮助大家的应对这类话题。

　　首先，我们可以按照不同的地点准备好描述的相关内容和语汇。比如说，对于餐馆的描述，我们可以选择描述一个餐馆的cuisine, menu, decoration, architectural style, entertainment, staff, service等。而其中，最难描述的当属architectural style了，我们可以多积累些相关的词汇，比如glass roof, open-air bar on the rooftop terrace和gothic wall等。

　　在描述museum时，我们要关注博物馆的类型，还要了解其中的exhibits, 如visual art, painting, illustration, sculpture, collection of drawings and old master prints, document, artifact, art, archaeological object。还可以描述些博物馆经常举办的activities。

　　酒店的描述通常也是学生的难点之一，在描述酒店时，一些常用词汇的积累也是必不可少的，如酒店的设施：underground parking, lobby, lobby bar, outdoor heated pool, exercise room outdoor yard, well-lit desk, hair dryer, coffeemaker, individual climate control, high speed internet access, direct TV, in-room movie等。

　　此外，在描述这类地点的时候，合适的句型也是重要的，例如我们在描述library的时候，就可以描述一下坐落地点，描述坐落地点时，最常用的当然是be located in或be situated in。例如，我们可以说：The library is located at the southern part of Shanghai. 此外，建筑的风格描述可以选择句型：…is a typical classical architecture in a European/western/eastern style。图书馆中的收藏当然是必不可少的描述要点，我们可以选用句型：The library is complete when it comes to…来描述，例如The library is complete when it comes to references be it newspapers, books, thesis from former students, etc.

　　地点和建筑类考题的覆盖面是之广的，几乎涵盖了所有人们生活之中最常去的地方。其中，小区和住房的描述几乎是每次必考的话题。在描述小区时，我们首先也会描述坐落地点，如city center, urban area, downtown, rural area, outskirts, suburbs, village, town等。此外，还会描述小区的设施，如dry cleaner’s, gym, car park, swimming pool等。一般还会有针对交通的问题，会用到的词有bus station, subway station, railway station, elevated ring road, maglev, highway等。在小区描述之后，通常是对自己的住房的描述，而经常涉及的考题是谈论house和apartment之间的区别，雅思网将它们的区别归纳如下：

　　A house is usually on the ground floor, and has an upstairs and a downstairs.

　　In a house there is normally a kitchen dining room and living room downstairs, whilst the bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs.

　　房屋的描述还不止于此，有时候，考官会问我们关于如何改进房子的问题，这时候，我们可以选些有新意的点来描述，如：add on a downstairs extension to create a spacious kitchen diner, add a perfect party room, add an all-in-one party room, add a glass extension, move outwards and build an extension, create bigger bedrooms, add bathrooms, replace old appliances with new good-quality appliances, give your kitchen that just renovated feel, but at a fraction of the cost等。

　　在这类考题中，学生普遍反应最难的一个应该是属于对于swimming pool的描述。学生都不知道该从何处着手，也不知道一个简简单单的swimming pool有什么好描述的。其实如果我们描述角度灵活的话，可以将其描述的相当生动，比如，我们可以讲些泳池中的摆设或玩具，如：They have a variety of pool accessories there for kids to use and play with. 泳池的受欢迎程度：People flock to local lakes and make a day of it. 人们去泳池的目的：They swim laps for exercise instead of relaxing or lounging. 泳池的其它配套设施：This location also has a sauna available. The showers are clean. …has a sauna and a big L-shaped pool. 泳池的收费：Normal rates are 10RMB for an hour. The entrance fee is… One can also purchase monthly cards or special ones for families. 泳池的开放时间：Most of the year, you can swim both in the daytime and in the evening. 泳池的大小It is an Olympic size pool. 等。

　　此外，还有些考题并没有指定学生去描述一个特定的建筑，而是要求学生去描述一种风格的建筑，比如：describe a modern building或describe a traditional building。在描述的过程中，北京新航道建议考生要掌握一些平时不太能接触到的词汇和短语，比如在描述现代建筑时，我们可以积累些这样的词汇：marble stairs, function rooms, arc roof, marble pillars, cultural heritages, 而描述传统建筑物的难度则更大，我们需要知道日常生活中极少碰到的内容，如：pavilion, terrace, pagoda, temple, sweeping roof, yellow roofs and purple walls等。
