Some people believe that children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others argue that adults should prevent them from doing so. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

  Introduction

For children’s upbringing, some reckon that adults, especially parents, should avoid them from making mistakes, while I tend to harbour the view that teenagers should not be totallyshackled.

  Ø shackle vt.

  Body 1

Admittedly, it is justifiable for some to advocate that guardians’ intervention is indispensable to some extent, since they are constitutionally responsible for their children’s growth. Smart parents understand that it cannot count solely on their kids, who, though indeed have the freedom, are too young to distinguish right from wrong, and that external conditions, adults’ advice and supervision, are needed. Therefore, mature adults, particularly parents, steps in and utilises their power. For instance, guardians may put a cap on what kind of video games teenagers play or what sorts of people adolescents make friends with in case those immature children get addicted to games containing too much violence or, even worse, sunk into gangs, which consequently render them off the right life track.

  Ø guardian n.

  Ø intervention n.

  Ø constitutionally adv.

  Ø count solely on 仅仅只依赖于

Ø distinguish right from wrong

  Ø step in v. 介入

  Ø put a cap on v. 限制

Ø off the right life track

  Body 2

However, apart from the aforementioned cases, too much interference on children’s making mistakes may incur repercussions running counter to adults’ expectation. More accurately, since most young children are to some degree rebellious, they are less likely to follow every piece of advice from adults, especially when the strict supervision develops into excessive control. Not surprisingly, this may fuel children’s grumble and push them to make mistakes instead. In fact, children should be allowed to learn from experiences. As long as young individuals are well-instructed, they are highly likely to learn from their mistakes about how to tell right from wrong, to take all factors into consideration before making decisions, and toreflect upon and correct themselves.

  Ø interference n.

  Ø incur v.

  Ø repercussion n.

  Ø fuel vt. 加剧

  Ø grumble n.

  Ø reflect upon oneself 反省

  Conclusion

To recapitulate, children should overall learn to be responsible for their own decisions.

  Ø recapitulate v. 总结
