例句1

We may disagree with the 'general', for we doubt if all musicians of genius could have become scientists of genius or vice versa, but there is no doubting the accidental determination which nurtured or triggered their gifts into those channels into which they have poured their powers so successful. 1）结构分析

 

层次一：

 

主句：  We may disagree with the 'general'，but there is no doubting the accidental determination

 

修饰①：for ......versa【for介短状语，修饰but前的主句，表原因】 

 

修饰②：which........channels【which定从，修饰 accidental determination】

 

修饰③：into which......successful【which 定从，修饰successful】

 

结构总结：主句+介短+定从+定从

 

2）译文分析：红体字代表主干，括号代表修饰，大括号包括小括号

 

虽然我们可能不赞同这个“普遍性”，（因为我们会怀疑是否所有的天才音乐家都能成为天才科学家，反之亦然），但是毫无疑问的是：这些偶然的机会（确实会滋养或激发他们的天赋），（注入到他们已经成功注入精力的领域）

（我们所欣赏，享受或者惊叹的）天才的杰作或神童的成就都是他们能力的表现，（这些能力和我们普通人的相似，但是要比我们更好）
