Some people think that children nowadays have too much freedom. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
关键词:children(孩子)+ freedom(自由)
In many parts of the world, children have more freedom than they used to have. Is this a positive or negative development? (2017/7/8)

01
Children today are apparently enjoying more freedom than ever before. This is so because the technological advances have relieved children of much of their manual labor and because parents and schools these days are far less restrictive than they were.
(2) Apparently 显然地
(3) Manual labor
(4) Restrictive

It may turn out to be a bad thing that children have too much free time at their disposal. Without the supervision of their parents and teachers, many children end upbeing addicted to computer games or other unhealthy habits. This is detrimental to both their academic development and character formation. In contrast, children before had to help their parents do the housework and they did not have calculators or computers to help them with their maths, so they would have to spend much time on all these tasks during which they learned the value of hard work and cooperation.
(2) At their disposal
(3) Supervision
(5) Be addicted to... 对......
(6) Detrimental 有害的

Yet this does not mean that children should not enjoy that much freedom. In fact, I would argue for the benefits freedom can bring to children. When given the freedom of time and mind, children can fully explore their own potentials instead of being told to do things they are not really interested in. If a child has a strong passion for music, but is forced to spend much of his time on some more “practical” subjects like physics and chemistry, his talent for music may be wasted and he will never be happy in life. Meanwhile, freedom also breeds independence and responsibility. When left free to make their own decisions, many children actually become more independent and responsible.
(3) Explore 探索
(4) Potential 潜力
(5) To have a strong passion for...
(6) Breed 孕育

To conclude, some kinds of freedom, if given too much, may be harmful to children, but when it comes to free mind and free choice, there can never be too much of them.
(2) When it comes to...
(3) There can never be too much of... ......
