合译法是通过对源语信息进行整合，将意义相同或相近的词、句进行合并，将源语中的复杂句译简单句的方式译出或是将多个有重叠信息的简单句以符合句的方式译出。主要的方法有：运用并列连词;运用从属句;运用非限定性结构;运用介词等。(汪咏梅.汉英翻译中的合句[J].成人高教学刊[J].2003(5),第62页.)在此次的源语当中，出现大量意义相近的语句，但这些语句中又有互不重叠的部分，所以针对这类语句，笔者选择了合译的方式进行处理。

　　大家都鼓励读经典，但是像韦伯这本书名气这么大，但是像学术与政治这本书大家读起来会感到非常困惑，为什么呢?因为这个演讲的内容好像非常庞杂，行文是曲折的，所以有时候你完全不得要领，而且更不明白它为什么名气这么大，有什么非凡之处。所以说，这个“志业演讲”虽然非常有名，但是并不是容易理解的，特别是对于进入学术界并不是很深的读者来说，相当困难。

　　We are all encouraged to read classical books like this one. But why do we feel so confused when we read Science and Policy? It is because the content of this lecture is rich and the writing is complicated. So, we cannot catch the key point of this lecture and cannot understand why it is famous. Although this Occupation Lecture is famous, it is not easy to understand, especially for the readers who have just begun to do research work.

　　We are encouraged to read classical books. Although the Occupation Lecture enjoys a great reputation, we feel confused when we read it, especially for readers who have just started to do academic study. Why? It is because the content is so rich and the writing is so complicated that we will be more likely to miss the key points.

　　分析：在这一段当中，源语者不断的重复韦伯的《学术作为志业》很难懂，但是却非常有名这一事实。在提出问题，给出答案后又进行了再次的赘述。而在“这个‘志业演讲’虽然非常有名，但是并不是容易理解的，特别是对于进入学术界并不是很深的读者来说，相当困难”中依旧存在“特别是对于进入学术界并不是很深的读者来说相当困难”这一有效信息。所以，笔者在进行翻译信息处理的时候，不能简单的采用减译法，要将这两部分内容进行有效的融合，使得译文通畅，简练，又不能缺少任何源语当中的信息。本文笔者在处理这部分翻译的时候，选择将后半部分的重复内容删掉，并将剩余的有效信息和前部分内容合译，形成让步状语从句。

　　而且在德国陷入战争危机的时刻，所有紧迫的现实问题都不可能有简单明了的现成答案。谁要给出一个现成答案，他认为就是一个假先知。……而且在事件中，要处理极其困难复杂的问题，面临很多考验，谁要是宣称自己能够提供确切准确的信念，能够可靠无误的答案，都是蛊惑人心的假先知。

　　Moreover, Germany was at war at that time. All the urgent practical problems had no simple and ready answer. He thought the people who can provide a ready answer must be a false prophet. So, under this situation, the clear and great meaning believed by predecessors was not reliable anymore whether science or policy. We needed to deal with a lot of extremely difficult and complex problems and face many challenges. The false prophet cheated people by providing so-called clear and correct answers.

　　Moreover, Germany was on the verge of war defeat at that time. All the urgent practical issues had no ready-made answer which is clear and simple. Whether in science or in politics, the definite and great ideas believed by the predecessors were no more reliable. Meanwhile a number of extremely difficult and complex problems required to be resolved and many challenges needed to be faced in events. So, the people providing accurate belief or a reliable answer must be a false prophet who demagogued people.

　　分析：这段内容当中，演讲者主要是想表达，德国在战败边缘的时期，所有问题都是没有准确可靠的信念和答案的。那些能够提供确切答案的人就是假先知。但是，由于演讲者需要对这一层含义进行解释，所以在演讲中多次重复这一观点，导致观点分散，会使受众产生一定的理解偏差。所以笔者在处理这部分的内容的时候使用了合译法，将“假先知”的观点放在最后译出，进行总结。同时前文中“所以在这种处境中，无论从事学术还是政治”这一句中提到的这种处境，就是前文提出的“德国陷入战争危机的时刻”，“所有紧迫的现实问题”中就包括了政治和学术的问题，所以对其进行整合，使得译文更加简洁、明了。
