　　It is clear that the 10-year period experienced a rising trend in the figures for reading and photography for both groups of surveyed people. Specifically, 61% of city residents preferred reading during their free time, in contrast to only 7% for those who enjoyed photography. These two figures saw a remarkable growth in the decade, with an increase of 17% and 10%. Similarly, the figures for rural people who chose these two types of activities also experienced a rising trend, with the proportion of those enjoying reading climbing slightly to the same as the figure as that for urban people in 2010.

However, the figures showed a different pattern when it comes to painting. Initially, a slightly larger percentage of rural respondents were attracted by painting than their urban counterparts, with 26% and 21% respectively. In the next 10 years, although the former figure remained stable, a noticeable fall could be found in the latter one to only 14% in 2010.
