　　If you have more than a year to prepare for GMAT or TOEFL, my recommendation is for you to first focus on acquiring fundamental English skills on all four language areas: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

　　如果你有一年多的准备时间备考托福和GMAT，我的建议是把精力放在学习英语语言最基础的听说读写四个方面。

　　If you have the opportunity to do a rigorous and immersive language course abroad, this would be the most efficient way to acquire those skills.

　　那么最有效的获取听说读写技能的方式，是在国外进行一次严谨而又身临其境的语言学习体会了。

　　If you must study English in China, New Channel has excellent teachers and material for you to learn from. Outside the classroom you can explore more materials online that fit your interests.

　　不过如果只能在中国学英语的话，也不要紧，新航道会给你同样的感受，因为这里有的教师团队和教学资源供你学习。同时，大家也可以在课外从网上获取的资源，各取所需。

　　To improve your English, there is a simple formula: Time + Persistence + Feedback.With these 3 tools, you can achieve any English language objective. (Feedback here means regular evaluation from either an expert, a reliable software, or rigorous self-evaluation.)

　　After you acquired the fundamental English skills, you can start preparing for exam specific questions. Allow yourself at least a couple months of test specific preparation for each exam.

　　能力有了，可以准备应试考试了。我建议大家至少给自己留几个月的时间来准备这一块。

　　If overall you only have a couple months to prepare, then you don’t have time to make significant progress on your fundamental English skills. I recommend you to focus on the exam itself.

　　如果你只有几个月的应试准备时间，没有时间在你的基本英语技能上取得重大的话，我建议你就只针对考试本身吧。

　　How to prepare for the exam?

　　When I decided to apply to MIT, my English skills were already very advanced. I started preparing only two months before the exam. This preparation consisted of 3 steps:

　　The very first thing I did was to try an online mock exam. This is the best way to understand the structure of the test. It helped me know how far I was from my ideal score and identify my weaknesses.

　　I attended a two-week test prep course similar to New Channel, where I learned several tips on how to maximize my score.

　　I took over 30 online mock exams, while constantly reviewing my weak areas.

　　Combining my English skills acquired during more than 10 years of study and practice, with two-month test-specific preparations, I achieved 118/120 in TOEFL (30/30 in spoken English,) and 730 GMAT (Top 1%). This allowed me to have a comfortable margin over the minimum requirement to study at MIT.
